Keeping Your Conscience Clear
Dan Lamos
SCRIPTURE READING: Acts 24:10-16
The Apostle Paul was defending himself before the Roman governor. He made it clear that he had done nothing wrong. Toward the end of his defense he said that at a time in the future, we'll all be resurrected. But Paul also said that the righteous aren't the only ones who will come back to life. The wicked will also be there.

The Bible says that after this life all of the dead will be judged by God himself. When that time comes, it will be too late to start thinking about dealing with any sin in our lives.

Paul told the governor that he made it a priority to keep his conscience clear before God. He did this because he knew this life is not all there is.

Christians during Paul's time were often called followers of the Way. Jesus told us that He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. You can't prepare yourself for what is coming after this life by following a set of rules. You won't even be ready if you do your best to keep the Ten Commandments. It isn't about following a way. It's about following The Way, Jesus Christ.

Keeping your conscience clear before God may seem impossible to you at times. But, remember the Bible says we have all sinned (Romans 3:23). First John 1:8-9 tells us that if we confess our sins, God will forgive and purify us.

If your conscience is troubling you, take some time to confess your sins to God. Ask Him to purify your heart again. Don't put off preparing yourself for what is to come. You will spend eternity somewhere. The Lord is preparing a place for you. Make it your determination to be there by trusting in the Way--Jesus Christ.
